Student Referrals-Southern MB Academy for Response Training
When we say that it is our goal to see students achieve theirs, we mean it. Sometimes students come to S.M.A.R.T. with a distinct goal in mind. Other times, they are uncertain of their options or what area of emergency services interest them most. Either way, our staff and instructors will do everything possible to see our students succeed. Here are what some of our students have to say about their experiences at S.M.A.R.T.
† Thank you to Dave, Brad, and everyone at SMART for helping me reach my goal. I took their EMR and Firefighter program back in 2009 which gave me confidence and knowledge to continue my studies. Dave and Brad have been there for me even after I wasn't one of their students any longer. They have helped me land my dream job of working for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service as a Paramedic! Mike W. (PCP, WFPS) † I just wanted to say thank you so much for setting me up with the EMR course! It was absolutely AMAZING! I am very much hooked now and want nothing more than to continue with this career. All of the instructors there are above and beyond what I was expecting. They all know their stuff down pat, and are willing to help make sure everyone succeeds. I definitely recommend the EMR course to everyone! Thanks again! Shanna R. (EMT-Rural MB) †Hi Dave,
I just wanted to say thank you for everything you've done Dave. I loved the S.M.A.R.T. course. It really got me intrigued into EMS. I love what I'm doing now, and I wanted to let you know that you and S.M.A.R.T. are the reason for what I am doing today, thanks again! Frazer A. (Paramedic, ARHA, MB) †Dear Mr. Loewen and Mr. McMullen,
I have been attending the bi-weekly classes for your IFSAC accredited Firefighter I and II (NFPA 1001) course. After under one month of the hands-on training offered by your training officers, I have learned and unbelievable amount of skills, techniques and knowledge pertinent to becoming a firefighter and a servant to the community. The course is exceeding my expectations in terms of professionalism, learning techniques, training and equipment access.
The paramilitary teaching style which is supposed to mirror the training in Texas is, personally, one of the best methods that could be used. With a higher degree of discipline than typical a typical classroom, it is much easier to focus on the tasks at hand and it helps me to push myself to be the best I can be. There is seldom any time wasted and all the information is relevant. The training officers are able to get the job done by imposing upon us the core values they have adopted throughout their experiences in the fire service, by representing a figure of discipline and authority but yet being extremely personable individuals. The student-teacher ratio is also ideal because almost they are able to answer almost any question with respect and with short delay.
Already, it feels like I belong to a family that cares deeply about the success its students and that is something that many people and organizations fail to achieve in the fast paced and economically challenging times. Itís comforting to know that there are so many people I can count on and that my business is valued. It is also very nice to see that our tuition money is actually put to great use with the purchases of new equipment and renovations to your facilities.
As a hopeful future civil servant, this course teaches much more than the fundamentals of becoming a fire fighter. It coaches us to be disciplined team players with a great set of core values. Things like that can be put to use in everyday life and generally, it helps us all to become better people.
I am very excited to continue my studies with SMART for all the offered emergency medical responder related courses. Thank you for providing me with the first steps to a very promising career.
Sincerely, Colin C.I wanted to say thank you, to Dave for all your help and expertise. I took my EMR and also Paramedic training with SMART and it was phenomenal. Dave was always available to answer any question I had and would take time from the own schedules to ensure I was 100% satisfied and confident with my training. For this, Thank-you !
As of today I am employed as an emergency communications operator for the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and am in the process of getting onto the streets to work as a paramedic. I am so excited and would never have been able to do it without the support and devotion of SMART.
Sincerely Corissa Sorin (911 Dispatcher and PCP with WFPS)S.M.A.R.T. has given me the confidence and training required to fulfill my dream of becoming a flight medic on an EMS Helicopter Service in Alberta. The instructors were second to none and really cared about the results of each and every student. Thank you! Matt G. (PCP / Firefighter)Thank you for the course. The ability to work and go to school at the same time made it possible for me to accomplish my desire to be a firefighter. I enjoyed the fire academy and the EMR course I took. I am on with the Cherry Creek Fire Department in British Columbia. Your EMR training gave me the chance to work in a hospital for 3 months in Haiti after the earthquake as well. I appreciate the training and highly recommend the course to a lot of people out here now that you offer the program in BC. Thanks again,
