In 2004, Dave McMullen and Brad Loewen met together to discuss how to provide the best possible emergency medical training in Manitoba.   Starting a training academy dedicated to the best possible learning experience and outcomes for students was a simple choice.

Since that time with a lot of hard work, excellent people, and a dedication to quality training the Southern Manitoba Academy for Response Training has become the academy of choice for emergency services training.

S.M.A.R.T. now provides programs in Emergency Medical Responder, IFSAC accredited Firefighter Level II (NFPA 1001) and Pump Operations / Driver Operator (NFPA 1002), Stretcher Transportation Service, International Air Ambulance Service, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and Aeromedical Attendent Certification.
